I create abstract aerial scenes of the earth with the aim to evoke a sense of intrigue and inspire connection to the natural world.

My work is driven by a loving necessity to celebrate Earth and a desire to capture its beauty and complexity. My practice is of revering ancient rituals through unpremeditated actions, sans conscious reasoning, while innately knowing. I channel something that takes place beyond the reality of what we have. While shaping and manipulating the landscape, I feel as though I am stepping in as Mother Nature; Favouring orchestration of light and darkness achieved through nuanced painterly gestures to motions forming organic shapes, mimicking natures’ true movement. Think of the oceans’ ebb and flow, leaving traces in the sand, to the winds gust on Saharan deserts.

I incorporate inspiration from my surroundings into my paintings through my practice spanning acrylics, pastel, organic derivatives, and mixed media found in nature.
I look for avenues of the unexpected and an ironic twist to combinations.

Raised on the Eden of natural wonders that is Indonesia, I’ve evolved surrounded by spellbinding variety of flora and fauna across thousands of islands that make up a star- studded landscape home to volcanoes, jungles, lakes, grasslands, mangroves, and coral gardens. My environment has fostered a deep appreciation and love
for nature that has strongly influenced my pieces.Immersing myself in the beauty and diversity of Bali has compelled me to inspire the desire to protect and preserve our environments through my abstract series, An Ode to Free Will, embodying organic curves and patterns found in both the macro and micro cosmos.

This series was created through the use of crisply delineated forms tainting the linen canvas with pigments of earthly tones, layering textures and organic curves to mimic nostalgic stills buried in memories bred in Bali. I painted plural versions of landscapes to communicate a visceral optical sensation that unravels the refined visual beauty nature offers. Intended to be immersive work through the usage of depth of field into unpredictable cycles of thoughts and associations.

My goal is to create an experimental opportunity in challenging viewers’ perceptions and assumptions of nature. Allowing the observer to feel as though they are soaring above the Earth. Texture is built through gestural mark-making to imprint the canvas, indicative of time and place. I strive to create a sense of movement and flow. Expressive brushstrokes narrating my experiences; unapologetic strokes that come furiously and are often punctuated by strict halts.

Unpeople landscapes remain the focus in my practice where the chief subject remains nature. Simply a yearn
to evoke a sense of wonder and awe for nature in full abstraction with the aim to recalibrate our place in the world and the impact we have on our environment. These works are an ode to nature and Earth; Harbouring love in secret defiance.
